My sisters been and she said afternoon tea costs £125 and they have this cocktail on the bar menu for £5,000. How ridiculous is that.

I have visited this hotel twice in the last 10 years and each time found it tacky beyond words and belief. It's so overly ostentatious that is looks very, very cheap. I tell people that I would take my wife to the Madinat Hotel which is located next door…and a prostitute to The Burj al Arab…that is how I would sum up the hotel if I were asked to describe it.

There is no such thing at 7 stars….

Ah Dubai, a place still riddled with poverty and yet they can afford to spend money on structures like this for the minority elite rich, one of the most corrupt places on earth!

the architect comes off amazingly obnoxious when generously handing himself the 10 point ratings. "icon, perfection, landmark" bla bla, let us decide. 20 years later it still looks gimmicky… it's a nice building and the engineer's work is absolutely amazing, BUT the idea itself is not as fantastic as the guy keeps telling himself. burj al khalifa is a lot nicer

Arabs only build big fancy things to say "our dicks are bigger than yours". Dubai is one of the most pretentious places on Earth.
